That week, we talked a lot on the phone. But after a couple of days, Frank said, we should take some time to think things over. If there was an emergency, I could call him, but now I should leave him alone for a week or so. I was mad at him, but didn't let him know.

It was morning, for crying out loud! If someone were to pass by, and someone would, then he'd see me squatting here, next to a dead man! We couldn't stay here. But how could I get Frank out of this mangled mess of metal? I nervously checked the road, but saw noone. I paced back and forth, but saw no onther option than to try and cut Frank loose.

This was the limit! Frank had said to me. It will stop right here, I won't let you play with me, such things he yelled at me. I just stood there, smiling and quiet. I bet he got goosebumps when he looked at me. But he had not woken up happily and started packing his things.

The day went by too quickly, with me sitting on the couch, staring at the picture of me and Frank in the city, one sunny day centuries ago. We smiled and were standing with our arms around eachother. We were happy. I kept looking at it, and couldn't focus on the problem I had to solve. Once in a while I got up and glanced at our car on the curb, where Frank was lying under a pile of blankets. Nothing moved, and like a zombie, I slowly moved back to the couch.

A Nightmare Come True Print E-mail

I wasn't lying very comfortable on the chair, so I woke up early, and watched the sun rise. It was quiet and peaceful. Frank was lying next to me, he breathed calmly and looked okay. The wounds in his chest had closed, and suddenly I realised that the bloodstains on his shirt were telling a very clear story.
