Page 1 of 4 “I think we need to do something together, Mandy. Something to relax, to have fun. Let's go away for the weekend.” Frank had woken up with a little headache, but had accepted my story of his fall against the table. He sat next to me on the couch and his hand laid on my leg. I smiled.
“That's a good idea, love. Let's go to the lake and rent a cabin.” Franks eyes lit up. “Yeah, a cabin with a fireplace, a bathtub and we could make long walks in the woods. It'd be good for us to spend some quality time together.” We started packing our bags, and Frank made a reservation on the internet, for a nice small cabin near the lake. We were both feeling happy and we making jokes and stopped packing for a while to kiss eachother. Frank started the car and we drove away. It was a two hour drive, and we enjoyed the music on the radio and the beautiful view outside. “We deserve a holiday after all that's happened.” I said. “We can take time to talk things over and connect again.” He nodded silently. We stopped to get some grocery's on the way and finally we got to this lovely, wooden cabin. The next house was a couple of yards away, and it was real quiet. Just the birds in the trees and the wind rushing in the foliage. Enthousiastically we started unpacking the car and check out our little house. Because of the lovely weather, we made some coffee and drank it outside. We chatted about what we would do that day and about the great view. I felt myself relax, and realised that I hadn't felt like that in weeks. I let the sun warm my face, and listened to Franks voice without really hearing what he was saying. Later that day we made a walk along the water. “Do you think, that maybe you could take time to think about what's bothering you? And that when we get home, it could all be over with, and that we can go on with our lifes the way we allways were?” Frank asked with a soft voice. “I think I can. Yes. Maybe it's a good idea, that tomorrow I'll find myself a spot near the water where I can sit and think, without any disturbance. Then... Then all my troubles will get clear and I'll be the old Mandy again.” We stopped walking and Frank and I stood together, my head rested against his shoulder. For a moment, everything felt like it used to be.
